Nanchang–Changsha UHV AC Transmission Project Communication System Works

May 25, 2023

The Nanchang–Changsha 1,000 kV UHV AC Transmission Project was the first UHV transmission and transformation project launched in China during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. It is not only the first 1,000 kV UHV transmission project for Changsha and Hunan, but also State Grid’s first UHV AC project under the same development period. As a key link in the lower section of the “sun-shaped” UHV AC ring network in Central China, the project plays an important role in enabling coordinated power absorption within the regional grid and optimizing cross-provincial energy allocation.

With this connection in place, the project supports full-capacity operation of the Yajiang–Jiangxi UHV DC transmission line, promotes the cross-provincial allocation of clean energy, strengthens interconnection between the Jiangxi and Hunan grids, and enables complementary use of northwestern wind and solar power with southwestern hydropower resources.

The company was responsible for communications construction in the Hunan section. Supported by its in-house software R&D team, Zeyu also developed the Nanchang–Changsha Communications Engineering Command Center Platform. The platform provides real-time visibility into on-site team deployment, workforce status, regional distribution, and work permit volumes, while also displaying daily construction photos and videos, overall optical cable splicing progress, section-by-section progress, and equipment commissioning and energization status at each station. Through this platform, project command personnel were able to monitor key construction activities in real time, significantly improving construction efficiency and overall project management performance.
